Hunan Yunbang Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. (Yunbangpharm) located in Changsha High-tech Industrial Park, Hunan. It is a high-tech enterprise specializing in the research and development, production and sales of Pharmaceutical raw materials, Pharmaceutical intermediates(API) and Fine chemicals. Based in China, Yunbangpharm has been providing suitable solutions for many domestic, foreign pharmaceutical companies and traders. Excellent quality, good reputation and authentic price have won the praise of the majority of customers.
The company adheres to the corporate tenet of "We do not produce medicines, but help pharmaceutical companies make good medicines".Phosphoglucose isomerase, derived from baker's yeast, is an enzyme that plays a crucial role in carbohydrate metabolism. It catalyzes the reversible isomerization of glucose-6-phosphate to fructose-6-phosphate, a key step in glycolysis and gluconeogenesis pathways.
This enzyme is essential for the efficient utilization of glucose and other sugars by organisms. It is involved in various physiological processes, including energy production, biosynthesis of macromolecules, and the generation of metabolic intermediates.
Phosphoglucose isomerase has been extensively studied for its physiological significance and has practical applications in biotechnology and industrial processes. Its role in carbohydrate metabolism and its potential as a metabolic engineering target make it a subject of interest in the development of biofuels, biopharmaceuticals, and biocatalysis.
In summary, phosphoglucose isomerase from baker's yeast is a critical enzyme involved in carbohydrate metabolism, playing a pivotal role in glycolysis and gluconeogenesis. Its functions have implications in both basic biological research and applied biotechnological endeavors.

Uses | Phosphoglucose Isomerase is an enzyme crucial for the interconversion of D-glucose 6-phosphate and D-fructose 6-phosphate. PGI is responsible for the second step of glycolysis and is involved in glucogenesis. It is highly conserved in bacteria and eukaryotes. It is used in sugar assays to convert fructose to glucose. |
General Description | The enzyme is part of the glycolytic pathway. Also, it is important in the industrial production of fructose 1,6-diphosphate (FDP) from glucose. The molecular mass is found to be approximately 189 kDa and it consists of four subunits, each with a molecular mass of approximately 50 kDa. Optimum pH is found to be between 9-10 and the isoelectric point is 4.2. |
Biochem/physiol Actions | Phosphoglucose Isomerase fuctions as an isomerase, neuroleukin, autocrine motility factor, and a differentiation and maturation mediator . It is responsible for the photosynthetic reduction of carbon. |
