THORIUM FLUORIDE Usage And Synthesis

Chemical Properties	THORIUM FLUORIDE is White powder. Dehydrated between 200 and 300C. Above 500C reacts with atmospheric moisture to form thorium oxyfluoride, ThOF2, and finally the oxide, ThO2. Forms a series of compounds with other metallic fluorides such as NaF and KF.
Uses	Production of thorium metal and magnesium- thorium alloys, high temperature ceramics. THORIUM FLUORIDE is used as a protective coating on reflective surfaces.
