Chemical Properties | THORIUM FLUORIDE is White powder. Dehydrated between 200 and 300C. Above 500C reacts with atmospheric moisture to form thorium oxyfluoride, ThOF2, and finally the oxide, ThO2. Forms a series of compounds with other metallic fluorides such as NaF and KF. |
Uses | Production of thorium metal and magnesium- thorium alloys, high temperature ceramics. THORIUM FLUORIDE is used as a protective coating on reflective surfaces. |
